Freqently Asked Questions

Because we understand that your first visit can be uncomfortable and confusing – we have answered some questions below that might be of help to you.  It is our hope that you will visit St. Paul and feel welcome from the start!  Please feel free to contact us with any questions or concerns you might have.  We are always glad to hear from you!

I’m not a Lutheran or a member of any church. Can I still come to your church?

Yes! We welcome anyone and everyone into our family of faith regardless of denomination, race, age, or social status.  All are welcome!  We invite all baptized believers in Christ to share in Holy Communion with us.

What should I wear?

Wear whatever makes you feel most comfortable.  You will see that our church family dresses casually, in business casual and even suits and dresses.

Where do I park?

We have designated “visitor” parking for our guests.  You will see the spaces immediately upon turning into our parking lot.

Is the building handicap accessible?

Yes, it is. Our parking lot has designated handicap spaces on the side entrance of the church.  Our sanctuary is on the upper level and there is an elevator inside the side entrance for those who have difficulty with steps.  Restrooms are handicap accessible.

Can you tell me a bit about your Worship Services?

We are an ELCA (Evangelical Lutheran Church in America) church. During the summer, we hold one worship service at 9:30am. We alternate between contemporary and traditional style worship. Our contemporary services feature many of the most current Contemporary Christian songs and is led by our praise team, while our traditional worship is led by the organist and centers around songs from the Lutheran Book of Worship (LBW), the Evangelical Lutheran Worship (ELW), and the With One Voice (WOV) hymnals.

Holy Communion is celebrated each Sunday.

If I have more questions, who can I contact at the church?

Please feel free to contact our Church Administrator.  She may be reached by phone at 301.473.8626 or email at secretary@stpauljeff.org.  She will be glad to assist you with any questions or concerns you might have.
